Five Reasons December Is Actually One of the Best Times to Train

Let’s be honest: December can feel like chaos. Work deadlines, school break-ups, teacher gifts, exams, parties, and uni assignments all hit at once. It’s easy to think, “I’ll just take a break from training until January…”

But here’s the secret: December might just be the best time to keep moving.

Here’s why:

1. You Need the Anchor Amidst the Chaos

End-of-year life can be stressful — physically, mentally, and emotionally. Training provides a consistent, grounding habit you control.

Even one Ultra class a week can give you:

  • mental clarity
  • stress relief
  • a sense of normality
  • a little “me time” when everything else is hectic

It’s the anchor that makes the rest of December feel more manageable.

2. Shorter, Smarter Sessions Work Wonders

When life is busy, your sessions don’t need to be long or punishing.

  • 20–30 minutes of focused movement
  • One Ultra class plus a “Life is Busy” session

This keeps you consistent and maintains fitness — no guilt or overcompensation required.

3. Classes Are Fun, Social, and Low-Pressure

December is full of distractions, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on your community.

  • Classes are uplifting and social
  • Everyone’s on “holiday mode” anyway — less pressure to hit PBs
  • Moving together boosts motivation and morale

Plus, your body gets stronger, fitter, and more resilient just by showing up.

4. It Keeps You From Hitting January Panic Mode

Skipping training in December often means trying to “restart” in January.

  • Momentum is lost
  • Motivation is harder to rebuild
  • Resolutions feel stressful

If you train consistently through December — even at a lighter intensity — you glide into the new year with confidence, not guilt.

5. Movement Makes Everything Else Easier

Training in December isn’t just about fitness — it’s about energy, resilience, and balance:

  • Sleep better despite late nights and social events
  • Reduce stress around end-of-term chaos
  • Have more energy to survive kids’ school concerts, uni deadlines, or family gatherings
  • Enjoy food and drinks guilt-free because you feel good in your body

It’s a win-win: your fitness and your festive season both benefit.

The Bottom Line

December doesn’t have to be a “no-training” month.

By keeping just a few sessions per week, scaling intelligently, and focusing on fun and movement rather than perfection, you’ll:

  • reduce stress
  • stay consistent
  • enjoy the festive season fully

Your future self and your Ultra community will thank you.
